👋 Cuneyt here. Tom and I talked to Randy Clarke for an hour — about what he’d tell President Trump, being a local celebrity (“it's a little awkward”) and where he wants to take Metro.
In my Axios D.C. column this morning, I wrote about why Metro’s Gold Line proposal is quite ambitious: “It tries to solve a new problem (stadium transit) and a very old problem (no Georgetown metro) — and fix K Street.”
In fact, three mayors have tried and failed at building an east-west connection in D.C., and Clarke says his Gold Line bus rapid transit will be “a lot better than the streetcar ever was."
